| SUBJECT
| Approval of purchasing authority for an Existing Contract with Cascade Fire Equipment C-100689; NPP-PS20225
| | | | | | | | Key Points
- By using this piggyback contract with Cascade Fire Equipment, the City can eliminate the lengthy process of gathering quotes and evaluating built designs that might not work for our fleet.
- Two units have been approved for purchase. One unit will be paid for by the City of Vancouver and the second unit to be funded by Fire District #5.
- The original contract was competitively bid and conforms to the bidding requirements set forth by the State of Washington as per the City’s Procurement Department.
| | | | | | | | Strategic Plan Alignment |
Goal 2: Provide effective, innovative and well-resourced police, fire and emergency medical services.
| | | | | | | | Present Situation | The Vancouver Fire Department was approved to add two Squad Rescue units to the fleet. These units are built using a Ford F550 chassis with a service body that houses fire suppression equipment in the rear.
Staff is requesting an increase to the approved contract to cover the amount of this purchase. This contract will only be needed for this purchase because it is specifically for this type of specialized equipment, which has a ten-year lifecycle.
| | | | | | | | Advantage(s) |
- We are using equipment specs and pricing from another municipality’s contract.
- Piggyback purchasing creates efficiency and saves time and other City resources. Specifically it eliminates the lengthy process of gathering quotes and evaluating built designs that won’t work for our fleet.
| | | | | | | | Budget Impact | None. The purchases have already been authorized and the contract has been vetted by Procurement.
| | | | | | | | Action Requested | Approve purchases with Cascade Fire Equipment under the National Purchasing Partners Contract (NPP_Gov Contract #PS20225) for two Squad Rescue Units in an amount not to exceed $600,000 over the life of the contract.
