Agreement with Washington State University for Pollution Prevention Workshops
Key Points
  • The City of Vancouver received grant funding from Washington Department of Ecology to hold virtual webinars for targeted pollution prevention tips.
  • Water quality can be adversely affected by pollution from a variety of sources and activities.
  • Washington State University (WSU) will host and record webinars through the Washington Stormwater Center.

Present Situation

In January 2021, the City of Vancouver received grant funding to conduct webinars and develop marketing materials for pollution prevention tips. These education opportunities will focus on construction sites, farmer’s market vendors, and food cart operators.

The Washington Stormwater Center (WSC) provides stormwater management solutions and leadership through research, training and education. The WSC will host and record webinars, manage webinar registration, collect attendee demographics, and post recordings, tips, and checklists to the WSC website and YouTube channel.


Advantage(s)
  1. This agreement will host and record nine webinars for pollution prevention tips at construction sites, farmer’s markets, and food carts.
  2. This agreement is funded within the grant scope and requires a 25 percent local match. There are no on-going costs.

Budget Impact

There is a 25% local funding match which is budgeted in the Surface Water Capital budget.  The grant funding will provide up to $10,777 with a $2,694 match.

Authorize the City Manager or his designee to to execute an Interagency Agreement with the Washington State University to host and record webinars per the Agreement.
