Present Situation

The City uses Washington State contract #05815-011 to purchase ruggedized and semi-ruggedized computer equipment, peripherals and services, such as desktop computers, laptops, servers, and maintenance. This equipment is utilized by the Police Department, Fire Department, and other field workers who require computer equipment in their vehicles or other non-office environments.

The City is requesting authorization to continue to use the contract to purchase up to the Council-approved annual budgeted amount for these commodities through the end of the contract, which is 2/28/2023, and into any extended period negotiated by the State of Washington.

The City has purchased up to the approved amount authorized in 2019 and requests authority to continue to purchase using this contract up to the amounts approved by Council in the City’s budget process.

Advantage(s)
  1. Economies of scale achieved by purchasing through the State of Washington provide better pricing than the City could obtain on its own.
  2. Cooperative purchasing creates efficiency and saves time and other City resources.

Disadvantage(s)

Budget Impact
  1. Expenditures under this contract are anticipated to be approximately $170,000 in 2022 based on Council’s adopted 2022 budget.
