Addendum to City Manager Employment Agreement
Key Points
  • The employment agreement between the City and the City Manager calls for an annual performance evaluation and compensation adjustment.
  • Council initiated the evaluation process in October 2022, and completed the City Manager’s evaluation on December 12, 2022.

Present Situation
Council Policy 100-31A, as well as the employment agreement between the City and the City Manager, calls for an annual performance evaluation and compensation adjustment. Council initiated the Manager Evaluation. Based on the evaluation, a compensation adjustment of ­­8.25% is reflected in the addendum.
Advantage(s)
Approval of this Addendum would fulfill the Council’s obligation to annually evaluate the performance and compensation of the City Manager.
Disadvantage(s)
The cost of the adjustment is $24,180.04 per year.
Budget Impact
There is sufficient capacity to cover the cost of the adjustment in the context of the current approved budget, which is approximately $1.7 billion for the 2023-2024 fiscal biennium.
Prior Council Review
City Council held executive sessions regarding the City’s Manager’s performance on October 24, 2022 and December 12, 2022.
Action Requested

Approve the Addendum to City Manager Employment Agreement and authorize the Mayor to execute the same.
