Resolution Authorizing Grant for Pearson Field from Washington State Department of Transportation, Aviation Division
Key Points
  • The City will be doing a construction project of an electrical vault/runway lighting system rehabilitation project at Pearson Field Airport in 2024.

Present Situation
The City of Vancouver is receiving a grant from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to fund the construction of an electrical vault/runway lighting system rehabilitation project at Pearson Field Airport in 2024. The project includes the construction of a new electrical vault and the rehabilitation of the runway lighting system. Total cost of the project is estimated to be $900,000. The FAA grant will pay for 90% of the project. WSDOT Aviation Division has Airport Aid grants that can be used as a 5% match for the project. The City, through the Pearson Field budget, would be responsible for the remaining 5%. The grant application requires a resolution indicating the City Council’s authorization to apply for the grant.
Advantage(s)

The construction of an electrical vault/runway lighting system rehabilitation project is an important capital improvement project for Pearson Field. This grant could provide 5% of the funding for that project.

Budget Impact
The cost estimate for the project is $900,000.  The FAA will pay for 90% of the project. The WSDOT grant will pay for 5% and the City will be responsible for the remaining 5%. There is funding approved for this project in the 2023-2024 Pearson Field budget.

On July 15, 2024, approve a resolution authorizing the City Manager, or designee, to apply for a Washington State Department of Transportation, Aviation Division, Airport Aid grant for the construction of a electrical vault/runway lighting system rehabilitation at Pearson Field.
