Bid Award - Sodium Fluoride Contract, per bid 24-33
Key Points
  • Sodium Fluoride has been approved by the community in ordinance M-602.
  • This contract will continue to provide a benefit to our customer, while following the requirements set by the WADOH.

Present Situation

On June 18, 2024, the City received two (2) bids for supplying and delivering sodium fluoride. The bids ranged from $841,338.00 to $1,074,150.00. The low bidder, Newco Inc., has been recommended for acceptance by staff.

Advantage(s)

This contract will provide the sodium fluoride needed to maintain the required fluoride levels in the city's water system as outlined by the WADOH.


Disadvantage(s)
If the contract is not awarded, we will not be able to add fluoride into the communities drinking water, per ordinance No. M-602.
Budget Impact
Sufficient appropriation is included in the current budget and will be carried into the next budget cycle.
Prior Council Review
Last contract approval was 6/24/19, Bid No. 19-5.
Action Requested

Award the bid amount of $841,338.00 ($2,580/ton) for purchase of Sodium Fluoride to the lowest bidder Newco Inc.
